Beginners Sewing Classes at Sew Happy
At Sew Happy in Wakefield, I provide fun and friendly sewing classes specifically designed for beginners, no prior sewing experience necessary. You'll learn the basics in a supportive and inclusive environment, and produce your own unique tote bag over a 4 week block, with all resources provided.
You just need to bring yourself and your sewing machine!

Beginners 4 week course

You just need to bring your own sewing machine & thread.
2.5 hour sessions
On this course you will learn the basic foundations of sewing, including threading a sewing machine, changing a bobbin and sewing a seam.
You will produce a set of fabric weights as a fun starter, and then progress onto a boxed bottom tote bag with applique detail, which will develop your skills, confidence and understanding, in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
Small class sizes of up to 8 people, ensures plenty of 1:1 support.
Please note, there will be a well behaved, medium sized therapy dog in class to support well-being, she will be kept on a lead at all times.
Please note that you will need to bring your own sewing machine & thread to each class.
Mondays 12.30-3pm at Valley Crescent, Wrenthorpe.

It's great to see my students develop skills and confidence, and become addicted to the wonderful world of sewing! Watching someone transform from a complete novice into a confident creator is incredibly fulfilling.
What kind of projects do beginners usually work on in your classes, and why are they great for learning the basics?
You will produce a set of fabric weights as a fun starter, to test your accuracy and stitching skills. You will then produce a tote bag with individual applique embellishment to develop your skills further. These projects are perfect for practicing basic stitches, seam allowances, and fabric handling, all while creating something you can be proud of.
