Joining a new group can be daunting. At Sew Happy, you'll learn in a supportive and inclusive environment, where connecting with others is enjoyable and rewarding. We focus on building a sense of community every step of the way.

Can you describe a typical 'Social Sewing' class at Sew Happy? What can someone expect?

You will develop your confidence with a sewing machine, using supportive repetition to encourage sustained learning. You will bring your own projects to complete, to develop skills further. Expect a relaxed and fun atmosphere where you can chat, ask questions, and learn at your own pace.

What's the most rewarding thing about teaching social sewing classes?

It's great to see my students develop skills and confidence, and form lasting friendships through the wonderful world of sewing! Watching people connect and support each other is incredibly fulfilling.

What kind of projects do participants usually work on in your social sewing classes, and why are they great for connecting with others?

Having already mastered a basic understanding of using a sewing machine (if not, the beginners course might be better suited), in this course you will develop your skills further, and bring your own projects to complete at your own pace. You can expect to complete up to 2 projects per 8 week block. Previous learners have produced a range of garments and interiors items, you will receive expert advice from Nicky to ensure that you choose a project that is suitable for your level but also challenging and rewarding.
